Fat Bombs; A Tasty, Healthy Snack
First thing’s first, what exactly are fat bombs? Fat bombs are small bite-sized snacks that are low in carbs. The fat content is on the higher side, but it’s from whole food sources so you shouldn’t worry. They’re the perfect snack for individuals who follow a keto diet since they don’t contain refined sugar or refined white flour. Instead, this fat bomb recipe is made with granulated Stevia (or any low carb sweetener) and coconut flour. This double-double chocolate keto fat bomb recipe also contains other ingredients to keep you full, energized and healthy.
Almond butter is not only delicious, but it’s also very healthy. Almonds are rich in monounsaturated fats that help to protect against cardiovascular disease and improves insulin sensitivity. According to a study published in 2012, replacing saturated fat and carbohydrates with monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) greatly reduced the risk of heart disease in healthy individuals, diabetics, and even those who are prone to heart disease. (1) Be sure to use all-natural almond butter for this recipe.
The coconut oil in this recipe will provide you with long-lasting energy to get you through a busy day. Coconut oil is made up of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) which is an easily digestible fat source that quickly gets converted to energy that our bodies can use. Those who have fat loss goals should definitely consider using coconut oil in order to benefit from its metabolism boosting effects. (2) Coconut oil is so effective that athletes consume it 30 minutes before training or even before competitions.
Not only does cacao powder give your double-double chocolate fat bombs its rich chocolate taste, but it also helps to keep you full and satisfied. This is due to the healthy fat and the fiber content of the cacao. Nowadays, the average person fails to meet the minimum daily requirement for fiber. This can cause constipation, irregular bowel movement, and other gastrointestinal problems. A diet high in fiber will make you feel less hungry throughout the day and will keep your digestive health in check.
