I recently went 30 days without dairy in an attempt to fix up a few minor health issues that I was dealing with. While it worked well enough for me to gradually add dairy back into my diet, I’m still 100% obsessed with this super creamy vegan cream cheese substitute.
How to Make Vegan Cream Cheese Substitute

Can I Use Vegan Cream Cheese The Way I Use My Regular Cream Cheese?
This particular vegan cream cheese substitute recipe is one of my favorites to make because it has almost the exact same texture as real cream cheese. It’s rich and creamy just like regular cream cheese. The hint of nutty flavor is the only distinction, really, and one that I quite enjoy.
The good news is that since it has the same texture, you can pretty much use it as a 1:1 replacement in any recipe that requires cream cheese.
Is Vegan Cream Cheese Healthier than Regular Cream Cheese?
While there’s nothing inherently ‘unhealthy’ about regular cream cheese, the fact remains that it’s quite high in both fat and calories. Again though, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s just something to keep in mind depending on your dietary needs and goals.
With that being said, this vegan cream cheese substitute is indeed quite a healthy option to use for all your cream cheese needs.
Making cream cheese with cashews is a great way to enjoy a spread that provides you with plenty of dietary fiber, protein, and heart healthy fats. Studies have even shown that a diet that includes plenty of nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans, etc.) can help to reduce your risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. (1)
