Chocolate is a must-have in my household. My kids look for it almost every single day; they’d have it for snacks or dessert at every chance. So, I’ve been trying to make healthier alternatives that still have that rich chocolate flavor but without all the refined carbs in most candy bars today. This chocolate banana smoothie has so much chocolate flavor thanks to the cacao powder, chocolate almond milk, and dark chocolate chips. That’s three types of chocolate in just one smoothie alone, so there’s a reason why this smoothie is always the crowd favorite. It’s made creamy thanks to the frozen banana and of course the whipped cream. Truly a dessert in smoothie form with all the beneficial nutrients all of us should have daily.

1 large banana, sliced and frozen
1 tbsp cacao powder
¼ cup crushed ice
¾ cup chocolate almond milk
For decoration (optional):
1 tbsp whipped heavy cream or coconut cream
small pinch of sprinkles
½ tsp mini dark chocolate chips
- Add the frozen banana, cacao powder, crushed ice and chocolate milk to a blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into a glass.
- Top with whipped cream, sprinkle with chocolate chips and sprinkles (if using) and serve.
