The Best Protein Ice Cream Ever for an Easy High Protein Dessert
When it comes time to enjoy dessert after a satisfying meal, I do my best to always make sure my dessert is as healthy as possible. Even when that means having a bowl of ice cream. Wondering how that’s possible? It’s simple with this recipe for making the best protein ice cream ever for an easy high protein dessert. You’ll only be needing five simple ingredients to make a tasty homemade ice cream that you’ll be able to enjoy 100% guilt-free. The ice cream is packed full of protein and other essential nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and antioxidants. Once you try protein ice cream like this, it’s definitely hard to go back to regular ice cream.
It’s Seriously the Best Protein Ice Cream Ever
Making the ice cream is super easy as well. You can start by adding ⅓ cup of vanilla flavored protein powder into a food processor.
Next, add two cups of plain Greek yogurt in. When paired with the protein powder, the Greek yogurt loads up the protein content, adding 40 grams to the recipe. It’s also a decent source of healthy fat, vitamins, and minerals. Greek yogurt is full of gut healthy probiotics, which can help boost your immune system, relieve allergy symptoms, and may even help protect against various diseases as well. (1) You’ll also need to mix in ⅓ cup of unsweetened almond milk. I like to use a vanilla flavored almond milk whenever I make this recipe as the taste pairs well with the whey powder. Almonds are one of my favorite foods in general, whether it’s raw almonds, almond butter, or almond milk. All of them provide great benefits for your heart by helping to lower LDL cholesterol and blood pressure levels. (2)
You’ll be adding ¼ cup of honey into the mix to provide your ice cream with a naturally sweet flavor. More importantly, honey is incredibly nutrient-dense and helps to make this recipe even healthier. It’s packed full of essential nutrients and it even offers some rather potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. (3) And last but not least, a single teaspoon of pure vanilla extract is added to further increase the flavor.
Vanilla extract is also another surprisingly good source of antioxidants, with studies finding that it may be potentially useful as a supplement to help protect against disease. (4) After blending everything together in the food processor, add the mixture to an ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to finish off the ice cream.
