High Protein 3-Ingredient Banana Ice Cream (Easy to Make and Healthy)
When I first thought about making my own homemade ice cream, I wasn’t too keen initially about the whole idea. I thought it would be a pretty complicated process that was more trouble than it’s worth. Oh how wrong I was! There are actually all kinds of super easy ways to make your own ice cream. Some of them use an ice cream maker, some of them just require a food processor and a bit of time in the freezer, and others yet just rely on a few simple ingredients to make a delightful ‘ice cream’. This recipe is a great example of the latter – it makes a 3-ingredient banana ice cream that’s incredibly incredibly easy to make while still being 100% good for you.
The Easiest Homemade Ice Cream Ever
So how easy is it to make this ice cream? Unbelievably so – you simply need to add your three ingredients into a food processor and then combine them until they make a nice thick, smooth mixture. And while this ‘ice cream’ may not be quite exactly what you would picture when you think of healthy ice creams, I guarantee that you’ll be a fan after just one bite. That’s all it took to convince me. After all, any recipe that’s this easy to make while still tasting ridiculously great is a winner in my books. Not only is it delicious, but it’s super healthy for you as well.
The reason it’s so good for you is because of its simplicity – by only using three ingredients, you need to make sure each one of those ingredients matters. Using two large bananas that have been frozen and sliced up is a perfect example of what I mean. When you process them, they make a thick and creamy texture that’s fairly similar to ice cream. They’re also incredibly nutrient-dense. Bananas are a great source of B-complex vitamins, potassium, dietary fiber, and they’re a surprisingly good source of disease-fighting antioxidants as well. Another reason this ice cream recipe is so healthy is because it also provides you with a solid amount of protein thanks to the use of ¼ cup of vanilla flavored protein powder. The protein content helps to make sure you’ll be able to enjoy a sweet treat that’s actually satiating as well.
The third and final ingredient you’ll need to add is one single teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. The main reason you’ll be using vanilla is to add a bit of extra flavor to the mix. It matches up quite nicely with the vanilla flavored protein powder as well. On top of that, studies have actually found that natural vanilla extract is potentially useful as a health supplement thanks to its antioxidant content.
