If you’re somebody who can’t get enough of spicy hot meals, then I have a feeling you’re going to love today’s recipe. These jalapeno cream cheese fat bombs are a fantastic way to squeeze in extra calories from quality fat sources. Offering just the right amount of spiciness thanks to the two jalapeno peppers, they’re also deliciously creamy and full of cheesy flavor. I love making them as a convenient snacking option that I can quickly grab and go – they’re perfect for dealing with any hunger pangs throughout the day because of their high fat content. And if you’re looking to make them even better? Just wait until you try them with a crumbled bacon topping!
Perfectly Spicy & Full of High Quality Fats
In order to make the fat bombs, you’ll first need to add all of your ingredients into a bowl and mix them together with some salt and black pepper to taste. You’ll need to combine the cream cheese, unsalted butter (feel free to use ghee as well), grated Cheddar cheese, and two jalapeno peppers that have been halved, seeded, and finely chopped. Whenever making fat bombs, or any recipe that’s heavy on keto-friendly ingredients for that matter that calls for adding unsalted butter, you should always aim to use grass-fed butter whenever possible. It contains increased concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, and other beneficial antioxidants compared to butter from grain-fed cows. (1) Ghee is a solid option to use as well, but I personally prefer the taste of butter – the choice is entirely up to you though.
Using two jalapeno peppers is also the perfect amount to make your fat bombs spicy, but not too spicy. Of course, if you’re someone who likes your spicy foods as hot as possible, you can also choose to leave the seeds in the peppers to add a bit more heat to the recipe. Jalapenos are also a great healthy option to pair with your quality fats, mainly because of their capsaicin content. Capsaicin is an alkaloid that gives jalapenos (and other peppers) their spicy flavor. It offers some great benefits for your health as well as it contains some rather potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have found that capsaicin may be particularly useful in helping to maintain cardiovascular and metabolic health. (2)
After combining all of the ingredients, you’re going to want to place the mixture in the fridge until it’s hard enough to roll into balls. You can then roll the mixture into 10 balls, and sprinkle each of them with some crumbled bacon. Adding the bacon is entirely optional but it’s highly recommend – it adds even more fat, protein, and a ton of flavor to the fat bombs. And who doesn’t love a good excuse to eat more bacon? All in all, these fat bombs are made up of about 90% fat, making them a great snacking option when you need something quick and satisfying.
